Everyday wear

Put your ring on last, after perfume, hair spray, lotion and make-up have dried. Take it off first, before you wash, cook, clean or sleep.

Remove it for the gym, sport and heavy lifting — knocks are what loosen or chip a stone.

02

925 silver

Our silver is rhodium-plated, which slows tarnish but does not stop it completely. Silver darkens with air, moisture and sweat; that is normal and it cleans off.

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
  • For light tarnish, use a silver polishing cloth on the metal only — keep it off the stone.
  • Never use toothpaste, baking soda or dip cleaners. They scratch the plating and can dull the stone.
03

Gold plated

The 2 micron gold layer sits over solid sterling silver. Plating wears with friction, so the less it rubs, the longer it lasts.

  • Clean only with a soft, dry cloth. Do not polish or rub hard — polishing cloths remove gold.
  • Keep it away from hand sanitiser, chlorine, sea water and perfume, which wear plating fastest.
  • If you wear it every day, take it off for washing hands and showering.
04

Natural stones

Every stone is natural and some are softer than others. Garnet, amethyst and topaz are hard-wearing; moonstone, labradorite, onyx and emerald scratch or chip more easily and dislike sudden heat or chemicals.

  • Wipe stones with a slightly damp soft cloth, then dry straight away.
  • Never soak a ring, and never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners.
  • Keep rings out of direct sun and heat for long periods — some stones can fade.
05

Storing your ring

Store each ring on its own, so stones do not scratch each other or other jewellery. The AbNoor box works well; a small zip pouch is better still, as less air means less tarnish.

Keep it somewhere dry — not in the bathroom.

Check the setting

Every few weeks, look at the prongs or bezel around the stone and gently press the stone. If it moves, rattles or a prong has lifted, stop wearing the ring and message us before the stone is lost.
